“We have to fetch water from other places, whereas the PHE department is least bothered about our problem,” said Imtiyaz Ahmad a local resident.

Local residents of Arch Village told Kashmir Images that they often face drinking water scarcity.

“Given the low pressure, the pipeline to our village particularly to Dar Mohalla is not able to supply water most of the time. We have been requesting the PHE department to install pipeline from nearby Dudkant village in order to ensure continuous water supply but the department has always turned a deaf ear to our pleas,” said locals.

They further said that they can’t wash clothes, take bath and cook properly and threatened to take to streets if water supply was not restored.

When contacted Executive Engineer PHE Ganderbal, Mohammed Nazir, told Kashmir Images, “Normal functioning of PHE was hampered due to strike of casual laborers. We have resolved the issues with the laborers. We will resume water supply to these areas as soon as possible.”
