ANANTNAG: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K. Pole today visited red zone areas and wellness centres of Anantnag to take stock of the facilities put in place.

He was accompanied by District Magistrate, Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Dar, SSP Anantnag, ADDC, ADC, ACR, CMO, Dy. Director, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir and Dr. Waseem Qurashi, Nodal Officer, Hospital isolation, Kashmir Division.

The Div Com Visited Wellness Centres at Trauma Hospital Bijbehara and High Ground Anantnag, where he was briefed about the facilities put in place. He also visited Red Zone area Kadipora and directed the district administration to ensure availability of all the essential services to the inhabitants of the area at their doorsteps, adding that complete lockdown must be imposed and no inward or outward movement of the public should be allowed to avert  any further COVID – 19 infection in the district.

The Div Com also took a detailed review of the arrangements put in place by the District Administration stem any further spread of COVID – 19 infections at a meeting of concerned officer, at DC Office Anantnag. The DM Anantnag through a power point presentation briefed the Div Com about the arrangements put in place in view of the COVID – 19 in the district.

The Div Com directed the district administration to ensure healthcare facilities and treatment for the patients with severe ailments. “Take over a private Nursing Home along with manpower and logistics, for extending exclusive treatment for pregnant women reporting from red and buffer zones, besides for devising a birth plan for the pregnant women so that they could be screened for COVID – 19 well in time.” He added that pregnant women from red zone areas must be treated separately and asked for using services of ASHAs for proper identification of the pregnant women.

It was also decided that a District Committee of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries departments be frame for taking up the measures for sowing of seeds and transplantation of seedlings, for the areas declared as red zones. “The Committee shall devise a mechanism for ensuring transplantation of paddy seedlings so that fast approaching agriculture season is taken care of,” the Div Commissioner added.

Taking cognizance of the death of a pregnant woman with twin babies at MCH Anantnag, few days ago, the Div Comm warned of stern action for such negligence in future. He directed CMO, Anantnag and GMC, Principal to ensure a robust healthcare system in the district and ensure that no complaints are received in future. He directed for ensuring attendance of all doctors and paramedical staff in the health institutions of the district round the clock.

The Div Com also directed the district administration to ensure separate control rooms for red zones for grievance redressal besides, not to   quarantine the members of a single family, in a single floor, of a building to stop any further infection. He also asked for using the services of NGOs, Red Cross, NSS and other volunteers to create awareness regarding the deadly disease.
