New Delhi, Mar 24 :A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi charged the opposition of spreading lies against the government, the Congress today hit back alleging that it was the BJP’s “DNA” that was “full of lies” and its dispensation had “crossed all limits”.

Congress spokesperson Tom Vadakkan accused the government of coming up with “jumlas” (empty rhetoric) that were nothing but “pure lies”.

The opposition has chosen to call the government’s “blunt lies”, “jumlas”, he said, adding that the term ‘jumla’ was “borrowed” from BJP chief Amit Shah.

“Now who has to go through the lie detector test is something that the people of India will tell you…you are a government that needs to go through a lie detector, because you have crossed all limits,” Vadakkan told reporters here.

The Congress leader accused the government of lying to the country, particularly to the kin of 39 Indians who were killed in Iraq.

Vadakkan listed issues such as four top Supreme Court judges coming out in the open to express concerns over the functioning of the judiciary, the alleged continuance of farmers suicides, alleged poor allocation to the defence sector and the Rafale deal to stress that the government had “lied” to the people.

He also attacked the government for the alleged manhandling of a woman journalist by Delhi Police while she was covering a protest by JNU students here.

“The point is, these people (BJP), their DNA is full of lies. Their post-mortem in 2019 (general elections) will clearly indicate that it is full of lies, lies and lies,” he said.

Modi had yesterday accused the opposition of spreading lies against his government due to its increasing “frustration” over electoral losses, and asked BJP MPs to use technology effectively to take the truth to the masses.

BJP chief Shah had also blamed the opposition for the impasse in Parliament and asked the MPs to hold press conferences in the next three days in their parliamentary constituencies to highlight the matter.
