Srinaga: In view of the current situation amid coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura will provide round-the-clock consultations to the cancer patients, hospital said in a press release Tuesday.

It said the senior faculty and senior residents of Department of Radiation Oncology, SKIMS, would be available 24×7 for consultation on the dedicated number 9697863173.

“We have created elaborative measures as far as the cancer patients are concerned,” release quoted the Head, Department of Radiation Oncology, SKIMS, Prof Muhammad Maqbool Lone as saying.

He said that amid the health advisories, the department would also provide round-the-clock consultations to the cancer patients of Jammu and Kashmir on the dedicated phone number.

It may be recalled that more than 5700 cancer cases have been recorded in hospitals across Kashmir in 2019 with figures revealing that the incidence is on a rise in the Valley.

The data maintained by the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) at SKIMS Soura reveals that it registered 4000 fresh cancer cases in the previous year.
