Atal Dulloo chairs maiden governing body meeting of JKESIS

JAMMU, MARCH 16: Financial Commissioner Health & Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo today chaired the maiden meeting of the Governing Body of Jammu and Kashmir Employees State Insurance Society (JKESIS).

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Labour and Employment, Saurabh Bhagat, Labour Commissioner, Abdul Rashid War and other officers.

The meeting was held with regard to the registration and finalization of Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations of J&K Employees State Insurance Society.

Atal Dulloo, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Body of JKESIS, directed the officials to go through proper procedure while dealing with the registration and finalization of the rules and regulations.

It is pertinent to mention that government vide order No. 18-L&E of 2020 dated 12-02-2020 had accorded sanction to the formation of Society under the Employees State Insurance Act, 1948 to be called as J&K Employees State Insurance Society.

During the meeting, several decisions were taken with regard to the constitution of committee to make rules, bye laws and operational guidelines for conduct of activities.

The meeting also discussed pending MRC claims and drugs and dressings and the inclusion of employers and employees representation in the governing body of JKESIS as nominated by the chairman.

Saurabh Bhagat gave an introduction about the JKESIS and said that under the Employees State Insurance Act 1948, Employees State Insurance Corporation was established at national level to provide health benefits. It is medical cum insurance scheme based on monthly fixed premium for employees of covered units which protects their interests in uncertain events and situation such as temporary or permanent physical disability, sickness maternity, injury during employment. The scheme provides both cash benefits as well as health care benefits.

It was informed in the meeting that health care benefits are being provided in the ESIC hospital Bari Brahmana and eight dispensaries managed by the government. Further, there are 20 empanelled hospitals and other centers in J&K where the treatment is also provided to the insured persons and their dependencies free of cost.
