Srinagar: A couple and their daughter were charred to death after their  house was gutted in a fire incident in Khanyar area of  Srinagar district during Friday night.

ADC Srinagar Haneef Balki confirmed about the death of three persons in fire incident.

He added that incident occurred at Sheeshgari Mohalla in the  house of Javid Ahmad Hakak son of Ali Mohammad Hakak.

Three members of the family including father, mother and their daughter died on the spot, he said.

He identified the deceased as Javaid Ahmad Hakak, his wife, Sofiya Javaid and their daughter Hafsa.

Meanwhile three year old baby was rescued alive from the house. Police has registered a case and is investigating.

Meanwhile, expressing deep shock and sorrow Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said the entire district administration is saddened by the tragic and painful fire incident last night at Khanyar area in which three members of a family lost their lives.

Sanctioning an ex gratia relief of 12 lakh rupees under SDRF and an additional 3 lakh rupees in favour of the surviving daughter he said no amount would ever be of help.

Earlier in the morning Dr Shahid visited the site of the incident and also visited the injured daughter of the couple who died in the tragic incident along with their another daughter.

National Conference, Peoples Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Congress party and several other political and social organizations have expressed shock over the traedy.
