Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, others meet Lt Governor

JAMMU, MARCH 06: Member, Central Waqf Council and Chairperson, Waqf Development Committee, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, today met Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu here at the Raj Bhavan.

Dr. Andrabi also apprised the Lt Governor about several measures initiated by the Council for protection and retrieval of the Waqf Properties. She also submitted a memorandum which included suggested measures for making the education sector more effective by way of making the public libraries and those in educational institutes better equipped with latest publications and books in various Modern Indian Languages. She also suggested rationalisation of the teaching faculty in educational institutions and the need for organizing Multi-Lingual Symposiums and cultural programs across the UT, restructuring of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages etc.

The Lt Governor assured Dr. Andrabi that all these important matters would be given due consideration and urged her to continue sustained endeavors towards ensuring Public welfare.

In another meeting, Justice (Retired) MK Hanjura, Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Law Commission met Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here today.

The Chairperson and the Lt Governor discussed wide ranging issues pertaining to the functioning of the J&K Law Commission. He apprised the Lt Governor about the status of the identification and purge of obsolete and redundant laws.

Further, various issues relating to the effective functioning of the judicial system were also discussed and the Lt Governor laid stress on utilizing the mandate of the Law Commission in every possible way for securing quick and fair justice to the aggrieved.

Meanwhile, Members of All Party Development Committee, Reasi led by Sukh Dev Sharma, today called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu here at the Raj Bhavan.

The delegation submitted a memorandum of demands pertaining to enhancing of health facilities by posting required support staff along with equipment & machinery at Mother & Child Healthcare hospital Reasi to make it fully operational as it caters to a large population in the area. The delegation also requested Lt Governor to look into the possibility of establishing a Ropeway project from Sula to Bhimgarh Fort and converting the forest area around the historic fort into a zoo or deer park, among other issues.

The Lt Governor assured the members of the delegation to review all the genuine issues and demands projected by them.
