DC Budgam declares Inter-Block Chess, Carom tournaments open in Budgam

BUDGAM, FEBRUARY 26: The Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganaie today declared Inter- Block boys and girls Chess and Carom tournaments open at Sports Stadium Budgam. He was chief guest on the occasion.

Terming sports as an important aspect for overall development of child, the DC said sports develops team spirit and discipline besides strengthening a person physically as well as mentally.

The DD said that many young boys and girls have already brought laurels to the district at state, national and international level competitions.

Emphasizing on massive participation of students in sports activities, he urged participants to be dedicated and work hard to polish their talent to qualify for competing at bigger platforms.

On the occasion, DYSS Officer Budgam, Sunil Singh Sambyal said that as many as 1000 boys and girls under-25 age, representing all 17 blocks of the district are participating in the tournament. He said that the participants have been selected from Panchayat level competitions and those selected will participate in inter-district competitions.
