Chattan honed Sahil’s talent: Minhas

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Paharai Development Board has paid rich tributes to Maqbool Sahil, a journalist and a Pahari and Urdu writer and poet.

The Board held a condolence meeting here today wherein speakers lauded late Sahil’s contribution to the field of journalism and Pahari literature.

The meeting was attended by Zaffar Iqbal Minhas (MLC), Vibodh Gupta (MLC), Raja Manzoor Khan (MLA Karnah), Tahir Mohiudin (Editor Chattan), renowned cartoonist Bashir Ahmad Bashir (Chief Editor Srinagar Times) and others.

While addressing the gathering, Zaffar Minhas spoke about Maqbool Sahil’s dedication and commitment to pen and the hardships he faced all his life.

Crediting Chattan, Minhas said that to introduce Sahil is a formidable journalist, Chattan and its Editor, Tahir Mohiudin did a great job.

Tahir Mohiudin spoke about Sahil’s association with him and Chattan and said that he was a dedicated professional.

Bashir Ahmad Bashir also paid tributes to Sahil revealing that he had started his career as photojournalist with Srinagar Times.

Other speakers too paid tributes to the deceased and stressed that media fraternity, literary circles and the government should come forward to extend some support to Sahil’s poor family as he was the sole bread earner.
