Javid Dar reviews irrigation facilities, ongoing developmental works in Rafiabad

BARAMULLA: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar today chaired a comprehensive review meeting at Dak Bungalow, Rafiabad here to assess the status of irrigation facilities and ongoing developmental works in the area.

During the meeting, the Minister emphasized on the need for immediate repairing and de-silting of canals to ensure adequate irrigation facilities for farmers ahead of the forthcoming irrigation season.

He observed that efficient water management and timely maintenance of irrigation infrastructure are critical for enhancing agricultural productivity and safeguarding farmers’ interests.

He further directed that all ongoing projects be executed strictly within stipulated timelines, with focus on quality, durability and sustainability.

The Minister urged officers to maintain close inter-departmental coordination, adopt a result-oriented approach, and remain responsive to public needs so that developmental initiatives translate into tangible outcomes on the ground.

Later, the Minister also held a public darbar to hear grievances and address the demands of local residents. The Minister reiterated that developmental planning must remain aligned with priority public needs to ensure inclusive and need-based growth.
