Shopian: A man was killed in a hit-and-run accident in the Heerpora area of Shopian district on Tuesday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh and a resident of Borihallan.
Officials said Farooq Ahmad Sheikh was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Heerpora, resulting in his death on the spot.
The driver of the vehicle fled from the scene soon after the accident.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify the vehicle and trace the driver involved in the incident.
