An inauguration ceremony marking the commencement of the “counter-terrorism refresher course” for the Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel was held at the Tiger Division on Tuesday, he said.

The event was attended by Additional Director General of Police, Anand Jain, and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Tiger Division, along with other senior officials of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The course, scheduled from April 7 to April 18, has been jointly conceptualised by the senior leadership of the Army and the J-K Police, the spokesperson said.

“The programme covers a wide range of operational aspects to enhance counter-terror capabilities, including handling of new-generation equipment and drone and counter-drone systems,” he added.

The course also focuses on strengthening junior leadership capabilities, considered critical for executing small-team operations in counter-terror scenarios.

Officials said several joint operations by the Army and J-K Police in areas such as Kathua, Dudu-Basantgarh, Doda, Kishtwar and Rajouri have underlined the importance of seamless coordination, shared situational awareness and mutual trust.

They added that the training will further consolidate these strengths and enhance interoperability between the forces at the tactical level.

Senior officials emphasised that such joint training initiatives are vital for building a coordinated and effective response to emerging security challenges, reaffirming the commitment of the Army and J-K Police to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
