Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Pulwama, Baramulla and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson informed that in Pulwama, during naka checking at Chewekalan, police arrested Ghulam Hassan Wani of Chewekalan after 2.300 Kgs of poppy straw concealed in a nylon bag was recovered from his possession.
In Baramulla, police arrested two persons in the Jal Sahib area of Old Town. The duo was identified as Farooq Ahmad Bhat and Nisar Ahmad War, both residents of Khwaja Sahib, Old Town Baramulla. During search, 17 grams of brown sugar were recovered from their possession.
At Chijhama Crossing in Sopore, one Mushtaq Ahmad Parray, resident of Chijhama Rafiabad, was arrested after a cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations, and investigations have been initiated, police said.
