Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has earmarked Rs 93.77 crore for the construction of sports stadiums in various parts of the Union Territory, Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma informed the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
Replying to a question raised by legislator Muzaffar Iqbal Khan in the House, Sharma said the amount has been allocated for developing sports infrastructure across different areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The minister said the proposed stadiums are aimed at strengthening sports facilities and promoting sporting activities among the youth in both urban and rural areas.
Legislators Sajjad Shaheen, Balwant Singh Mankotia and R. S. Pathania also raised supplementary questions seeking further details regarding the locations of the proposed stadiums and the timeline for completion of the projects.
Sharma assured the House that the government is committed to expanding sports infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir and ensuring that the sanctioned funds are utilised effectively.
