Srinagar: A two-day Agro and Food Fest Buyer-Seller Meet started in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday with an aim to promote agri-products from the Union Territory and strengthen market linkages.
The meet has been jointly organised by the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) and the Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) at the SKICC here, officials said.
They said the event would bring together key stakeholders from the agro and food industry under one roof.
The event aims to showcase J&K’s agro and food products and offer a platform for farmers, exporters, and industry leaders to engage directly with buyers from across the globe, officials said.
Speaking to reporters, Sachin Kumar from the TPCI said approximately 50 buyers are coming in from different countries.
“We will have buyers from around 16 plus countries like the UK, Sweden, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and the UAE. The major opportunity that we see through these buyers is the export potential for the products, especially Saffron, fresh produce, honey, dry fruits, etc,” he said.
“Getting feedback from these buyers will also help us to understand which markets will be lucrative for these products. These buyers also work as educators for these exporters…,” he said.
Kumar said the event provides a good opportunity for the exporters as well as the buyers.
