Baramulla: Baramulla on Monday joined the nationwide launch of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan–100 Days Campaign 2.0, with Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, S.F. Hamid, virtually participating in the programme from Sherwani Hall along with the Chief Medical Officer and other senior officers.
Launched on the occasion of World TB Day under the theme “Yes We Can End TB,” the campaign aims to intensify efforts for elimination of tuberculosis through enhanced awareness, early detection and timely treatment.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner called for intensified awareness measures across the district and directed the Chief Medical Officer to organise extensive awareness camps to educate people about the causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment of tuberculosis.
He stressed the need for mass awareness to remove stigma surrounding the disease and to encourage early testing and strict adherence to treatment protocols.
Hamid also directed all Block Medical Officers to focus on vulnerable and high-risk sections of society during the campaign to ensure its effectiveness.
Highlighting the importance of community participation, the Deputy Commissioner said eradication of tuberculosis is not the responsibility of the administration alone and urged people to come forward, get themselves tested and support efforts to make Baramulla TB-free.
The virtual launch event was also attended by the Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, District Tuberculosis Officer, Block Medical Officers, Nikshay Mitras and other health officials of the district.
