Jammu/Srinagar: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and several ministers on Thursday extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Nauroz, praying for peace, prosperity and harmony across the Union Territory.

In his message, the Deputy Chief Minister said Eid-ul-Fitr and Nauroz hold immense religious and cultural significance and reflect the rich composite heritage of जम्मू and Kashmir. He said Eid-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak and symbolises compassion, gratitude and generosity, while Nauroz, to be celebrated on March 21, heralds the arrival of spring and is observed with religious and cultural fervour.

Choudhary urged the people to further strengthen the bonds of coexistence, harmony and brotherhood, saying the people of Jammu and Kashmir have always set an example of unity, love and communal harmony by celebrating each other’s festivals with enthusiasm and mutual respect.

Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, also extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings and wished peace, prosperity, happiness and well-being for the people.

He described Eid as a festival symbolising compassion, charity, forgiveness and brotherhood, and urged people to imbibe these values in daily life and extend help to the underprivileged. Dar said such occasions provide an opportunity to strengthen communal harmony and mutual respect, besides inspiring collective efforts towards peace, development and progress.

Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology, Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, extended greetings on both Eid-ul-Fitr and Nauroz, saying the festivals call for compassion, unity and togetherness.

He said Eid reflects patience, self-discipline and spiritual growth observed during the holy month of Ramadan and serves as a reminder to support the poor and underprivileged. On Nauroz, Rana said the festival marks the arrival of spring and symbolises renewal, hope and positivity, while reflecting the enduring values of peace, harmony and cultural diversity.

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, in her message, said Eid-ul-Fitr symbolises compassion, generosity and gratitude, while Nauroz represents renewal, hope and the arrival of spring, inspiring optimism and collective progress.

She urged people to strengthen bonds of brotherhood, support the underprivileged and foster unity in society, and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, IT, Transport, Youth Services and Sports and Science and Technology, Satish Sharma, also extended Eid greetings and called for unity and mutual harmony.

He said Eid embodies the values of compassion, generosity, sacrifice and brotherhood and urged people to celebrate the festival in its true spirit by reaching out to the underprivileged and marginalised sections of society.

Satish Sharma said adequate measures had been put in place to ensure smooth supply of food grains, LPG and other essential items during the festive period. He said strict monitoring was also being carried out to prevent black-marketing, hoarding and overpricing.

He further called upon transport authorities and service providers to ensure seamless mobility for the public during Eid and appealed to people to celebrate the festival responsibly, maintain cleanliness and adhere to public safety norms.
