Srinagar: Baramulla Police has placed a head constable under suspension after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a checkpoint barrier while driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to a police statement, Head Constable Javid Ahmad (EXK-011664), currently posted in the Uri area, was driving an Alto car (registration number JK12D-8187) on the night of March 13, 2026 when the incident occurred.
The official reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the barrier at the Sheeri Naka checkpost. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Police said the misconduct and violation of discipline were taken seriously and the officer was placed under suspension with immediate effect.
A departmental inquiry has also been ordered to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
