Srinagar: Erratic weather conditions are likely to continue across Jammu and Kashmir till March 20, with spells of rain and snowfall expected at several places, the Meteorological Department said on Friday.

According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, the Union Territory is expected to witness generally dry weather on March 13 and 14.

From the night of March 15 to the morning of March 16, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy with spells of light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall in higher reaches at many places.

The MeT department informed that between the night of March 17 and the morning of March 18, brief spells of light rain or snowfall over higher reaches are expected at isolated to scattered places.

Another spell of generally cloudy weather with the possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in higher areas is likely at many places between the night of March 19 and the morning of March 20.

The department said weather conditions are expected to remain generally dry between March 21 and 23. However, from March 24 to 25, skies may remain generally cloudy with the possibility of light rain or snowfall over higher reaches at isolated places.

The MeT also issued an advisory warning of the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds at a few places on the evening of March 15.

Farmers have been advised to resume farm operations during the relatively stable weather window between March 13 and 14.

Meanwhile, the weather during the past 24 hours till 8:30 am Thursday saw temperatures remain above normal in many parts of the Kashmir division and several areas of the Jammu division.

Precipitation was reported at several stations across the region, with moderate rainfall recorded in some areas, the department said. (KNO)
