Patwari of Halqa Batmaloo lands in ACB net over bribery

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested Patwari of Halqa Batmaloo in Srinagar over charges of bribery.

Acting on a complaint that Saffdar Hussain Mir, Patwari Halqa Batmaloo, was demanding ₹10,000 as bribe in lieu of issuance of revenue extracts, ACB conducted a pre-trap verification, which established the demand of bribe. Accordingly, a case FIR No.05/2026 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 was registered at ACB PS Srinagar and investigation was taken up.

During investigation, a trap team was constituted, which caught the accused public servant red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹10,000 as bribe from the complainant.

The accused was taken into custody after medico-legal formalities, Further investigation of the case is going on, ACB said in a statement here.
