The glorious lessons from the Battle of Badr

17 Ramadan reminds us of the importance of Jung-e-Badr, one of the most remarkable events in Islamic history. It was the day when 313 believers stood against nearly 1000 soldiers and showed the world that numbers do not always decide victory. Sometimes, faith and belief become stronger than weapons and armies.

It was a day in the land of Arabia when the hot desert winds were moving quietly across the sand. Yet something unusual was about to happen. Two armies had come face-to-face in the open desert. This was not a war for land or power. It was not fought for wealth or control. This battle was fought for Islam and for the truth that the Muslims believed in.

On one side stood the army of Quraysh from Makkah- almost 1000 soldiers proud of their strength and confident about their victory. Their army was well-equipped. They had many horses, camels, swords, shields, and strong warriors. Many of them believed that defeating the Muslims would be easy because the Muslims were few in number.

On the other side were only 313 Muslims. They had travelled far from their homes in Madinah. Most of them were not fully prepared for such a battle. Their resources were very limited. There were only a few horses and camels among them. Many soldiers shared the same ride and even the same weapons. Their food supplies were also very small. But despite all these difficulties, their faith in Allah and their trust in Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) remained very strong.

The night before the battle was quiet in the desert. The sand looked calm, and the sky above was silent. But behind that silence, a powerful moment of history was waiting to appear. It was a night that would later be remembered for centuries. The desert itself seemed to be waiting for the morning that would change everything.

Among the leaders of Quraysh was Abu Jahl, a man known for his pride and arrogance. When he saw the small number of Muslims, he felt even more confident. He gathered the chiefs and commanders of the Quraysh army and spoke to them about the coming battle. In his mind, there was no doubt that the Muslims would be defeated easily.

However, he did not realize that the Muslims were standing with the support of the Almighty. They believed that Allah would help them in their struggle for truth. The same power that can move mountains and shake the earth was the power they trusted.

Abu Jahl proudly kept saying that the next morning, the Arabs would witness his strength and power. His words were full of arrogance and pride. But he did not know that the very night he was speaking with such confidence would become the last night of his life.

Though the Muslims were few in number, they possessed great courage. Their strength was not in their weapons, but in their belief. Their heart was one, and their belief in Allah gave them fearlessness even in that critical moment.

As the battle was about to begin, three warriors from the Quraysh stepped forward. These were Utbah, Shaybah, and Walid. They entered the battlefield and loudly challenged the Muslims. Their voices carried pride and arrogance as they called upon the Muslims to send warriors who could face them.

This was the moment when the first duel of the battle began. It was like the first sound of a horn that announces the start of a great conflict. At that moment, the future of Arabia was slowly beginning to change, though the Quraysh leaders could not realize it yet.

From the Muslim side stepped forward three brave companions of the Prophet: Ali ibn Abi Talib, Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib, and Ubaydah ibn al-Harith.

Among them was Hazrat Ali, who was known as Hyder-e-Karrar because of his bravery. When he stepped onto the battlefield carrying the famous sword Zulfiqar, it showed his courage and determination. Along with him stood Hazrat Hamza and Hazrat Ubaida, warriors who had deep faith in Allah and strong love for His Messenger.

These companions were not only fighting with swords. They were fighting with belief, sincerity, and hope. Their faith in Allah gave them strength that no weapon could match.

Soon, the Battle of Badr became a historic victory for the Muslims. Even though they were greatly outnumbered, they remained patient and determined. With the help of Allah, they defeated the powerful army of Quraysh.

The victory of Badr was not just a military victory. It became a great lesson for the whole of humanity. It proved to us that if people stand up for the truth with faith and sincerity, they can overcome any challenge no matter how difficult.

Even today, many centuries have passed since the event of Badr, but the message of Badr still lives among the people. It teaches us that the power of a person does not lie in his numbers, weapons, or wealth, but in his faith, patience, courage, and righteousness.
