Police issues advisory urging responsible reporting amid prevailing situation

Srinagar: In view of the prevailing situation, Police on Sunday issued an advisory to media houses, journalists, social media users, digital platforms and the general public, urging them to exercise utmost responsibility while reporting and sharing information related to the law and order developments.

In an official statement, police authorities advised all stakeholders to verify any news concerning public gatherings or security-related matters through credible and official sources before publication or broadcast. The advisory warned that circulation of rumours, unverified reports or speculative content could create unnecessary panic and disturb public peace.

Police requested the media fraternity to refrain from sensationalism and rely strictly on official updates for accurate dissemination of information. The statement stressed that responsible journalism and cautious information sharing are essential to maintaining peace and harmony during sensitive times.

People were urged to cooperate with authorities and contribute positively toward safeguarding public order and communal harmony.
