Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in north Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson informed the one Mohammad Ahsan Ganaie, son of Abdul Ahad Ganaie of Shahgund, Hajin, was arrested at a checkpoint established at Gundbal near Government Primary School, after 115 grams of cannabis-like substance, one mobile phone, and cash amounting to ₹40,000 were recovered from his possession.
In Sopore, at Naseerabad, Chinkipora Sopore, police intercepted a truck (JK02BQ-6164). During the search, “substantial quantity” of poppy straw was recovered and seized. The accused driver, identified as Shamdin, son of Sarajdin, resident of Dhirti, Katra, was arrested and vehicle seized.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered for investigation.
