KULGAM: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the implementation and progress of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district.
The scheme aims to enhance rooftop solar capacity across residential households, enabling them to generate their own electricity, significantly reduce monthly power bills, and benefit from substantial government financial assistance.
During the meeting, Executive Engineer, KPDCL, Kulgam, presented a detailed overview of the progress achieved so far. He informed that around 4,012 applications have been received for registration under the scheme in the district. Against a target of 625 installations set by the Managing Director KPDCL for Kulgam, the department has already surpassed the target with 659 Solar Rooftop (SRT) systems installed as on date. Additionally, material has been delivered at 62 more sites for further installations.
The DC emphasised the sub-division-wise mass outreach campaign to sensitize public about the scheme. He also directed the KPDCL officials to ensure the timely installation of the rooftop solar plants and the release of subsidies to beneficiaries.
The DC also emphasised accelerating the conversion of applications submitted to SRT installations. He also directed the SDOs for the immediate commissioning of SRTs where material is delivered or installed.
The meeting was attended by SE KPDCL, XEN KPDCL, Lead District Manager (LDM), representatives from JKEDA, and all AEEs, AEs, and JEs of KPDCL.
