Budgam: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, on Monday inaugurated a newly installed Hybrid Learning System at Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS) Kanir, aimed at strengthening technology-enabled and inclusive education in the district.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also delivered an academic lecture to students on the periodic table and semiconductors. The lecture, conducted through the hybrid platform, demonstrated the system’s interactive learning capability and encouraged scientific understanding among students.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Chief Education Officer and other officials along with faculty members of the institution.
Officials said the initiative marks a major step towards modernization of the education sector in Budgam. More than 15 schools in the district have already been connected through the digital platform, while 55 ICT laboratories established in different schools have been integrated with the hybrid smart classroom system.
The Hybrid Learning System operates on a hub-and-spoke model, under which centralized studios equipped with digital infrastructure enable subject experts and experienced teachers to deliver live lectures. The lectures are transmitted in real time to connected schools through a two-way communication interface, allowing students to interact, ask questions and participate in discussions.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with students both virtually and physically. Students shared their experiences and aspirations and appreciated the new learning facility.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bhat said the administration is committed to ensuring that no student is deprived of quality education due to geographical or infrastructural limitations. He added that the hybrid model would allow subject experts to reach multiple institutions simultaneously, helping maintain uniform academic standards and better utilisation of teaching resources.
To monitor academic progress, a Learning Management System (LMS) has also been integrated with the platform. The software will track attendance, lesson delivery, student performance and learning outcomes through digital evaluation tools.
The Deputy Commissioner directed concerned authorities to ensure regular monitoring, teacher training and capacity-building programmes for effective utilisation of the facility, and called for periodic evaluations to assess its impact.
The principal of BHSS Kanir thanked the district administration for installing the system and for the Deputy Commissioner’s interactive lecture with students. Officials said the administration will continue efforts to use technology to expand accessible and quality education across the district.
