Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in separate operations in Budgam and Sopore and seized “substantial” quantities of contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson informed that Mohammad Shafi Bhat, son of Abdul Ahad Bhat, resident of Batapora Kanahama, and Ubaid Farooq Bhat, son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat, resident of Agrikalan Magam, were arrested at Batapora, Kanahama after approximately 1 kg 188 grams and another 522 grams of semi-grinded cannabis-like substance was recovered respectively from them.
In Sopore, cannabis-like substance was recovered from the possession of Jafar Zahoor Mir, son of Zahoor Ahmad Mir, resident of Behrampora Rafiabad. He was arrested on the spot.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated ion both these instances.
