Srinagar: As the country marked the seventh anniversary of the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday reiterated that terrorism is the “greatest enemy of humanity” and India remains firmly committed to eliminating the menace.
Paying homage to the 40 CRPF martyrs, who laid down their lives in the line of duty, Shah said, “The nation will always remain indebted to the courage and sacrifice of security forces who confront terrorism.”
In a post on X, he said the dedication of the security forces continues to inspire the country and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to root out terrorism in all its forms.
“Terrorism is the greatest enemy of humanity, and India is firmly determined to eradicate it,” Shah said, adding that the sacrifices of the personnel would not be forgotten.
Pertinently, the Pulwama attack took place on February 14, 2019, when a suicide bomber affiliated with Pakistan-based terror outfit JeM rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a bus carrying CRPF personnel on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. The attack killed 40 personnel and triggered nationwide outrage.
India subsequently carried out airstrikes on a JeM training camp in Balakot in Pakistan, escalating tensions between the two countries at the time. (KNO)
