Jammu and Kashmir’s snowboarding duo, Zubair Ahmad Lone and his younger brother Vakar Ahmad Lone, delivered a stellar performance at the National Snowboarding Championship in Auli, securing top honours in the alpine events and bringing laurels to the Union Territory.
Zubair Ahmad Lone clinched the gold medal in the Giant Slalom event and followed it up with a silver medal in the Slalom competition. Continuing the winning streak, Vakar Ahmad Lone captured the gold medal in the Slalom event the next day, marking a remarkable achievement for the Lone family.
Their dominant display on the slopes of Auli highlighted the growing strength of Jammu and Kashmir athletes in winter sports and further reinforced the region’s rising stature at the national level.
Speaking to Kashmir Images, Farhat Naik, General Secretary of the Winter Games Association of Jammu and Kashmir and coach of the Indian snowboarding team, termed the achievement a “remarkable feat.” He said the brothers have consistently brought pride to the region through their performances and continue to excel at both national and international platforms.
