JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, today conducted surprise inspection of various government offices in Satwari, Akhnoor and Sunderbani to review administrative functioning and public service delivery.

During his visit to the SDM Office Akhnoor, the Deputy Chief Minister took stock of the overall functioning there. He emphasized the need for greater efficiency, transparency and prompt grievance redressal to ensure better governance and responsive administration.

He also undertook a surprise inspection of the PWD (R&B) Division and Sub-Division offices in Akhnoor. He evaluated the performance standards and functioning of the departments. He directed the officers to maintain transparency in works execution and ensure time-bound completion of the projects.

Later, at the PWD Guest House in Sunderbani, the Deputy Chief Minister interacted with several delegations and individuals who apprised him of various issues and development concerns.

Senior PWD officers were also present during the interaction who had detailed discussion on addressing the grievances raised by the public.

While reviewing the functioning of offices across the inspected areas, the Deputy Chief Minister laid special emphasis on seamless service delivery to the general public. He called for strict adherence to duty rosters and timely execution of official responsibilities.

Cautioning the officials against dereliction of duty and unauthorized absence, he warned that strict action would be initiated against those found neglecting their responsibilities.

Reiterating the government’s commitment towards accountable and people-centric governance, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to work with dedication to ensure that public services are delivered efficiently and without delay.

Later, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the BDO Office Lamberi and chaired a meeting there. He also inspected the construction site of the 100- bedded Mother and Child Healthcare Hospital at Lamberi. He emphasized timely completion of the project to further strengthen healthcare services for mothers and children in the region.

He also visited the under-construction motorable bridge, approach road from Bagnoti to Dabber. He asked the officers for speedy work execution and timely completion.

The Deputy Chief Minister interacted with the people of Bagnoti Lamberi. He assured them that their genuine issues shall be taken up with the concerned offices for timely resolution.

Various senior officers attended the meeting and also accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during the inspections to various government offices.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary conducted an extensive tour of Nowshera to inspect the progress of key infrastructure projects aimed at improving the connectivity and public amenities in the area.

The Deputy Chief Minister inspected the construction of a 120 m motorable bridge and approach road from Bagnoti to Dabber over Nowshera River under NABARD. The ₹771.07 lakh project is set for completion by June 6, 2026.

He reviewed the ₹799 lakh upgradation of the NH-144A to Nowshera Town road (2.9 km) and inspected the ₹700 lakh, 70 m bridge from Breri to Maseeti Mohalla, Nonial.

The Deputy Chief Minister stressed the importance of maintaining high construction standards, adherence to timelines and transparency in execution of all developmental works. He directed the executing agencies to ensure that quality is not compromised and the public derives maximum benefit from these projects.

Later, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the Sub District Hospital, Nowshera, where he interacted with the patients and enquired about the treatment facilities and availability of medical services.

Chief Engineer PWD Tilak Raj, Executive Engineer PWD Nowshera Sarwar Mehmood, along with other district and sectoral officers briefed the Deputy Chief Minister about the status and progress of the works.
