Thought is the actual spark of life, and its organization and application matter greatly in everyone’s life. Thoughts, their formation, fashioning, and design, have a direct impact on one’s practical course of life, and even the physical presentation of a person is governed by his or her thoughts. This importance of thought is equally significant in the case of students.

Proper orientation of students’ thoughts places them at the receiving end and gives rise to a towering posture. A towering posture is very important in classroom engineering, as it reflects a state of readiness to receive information from teachers or other sources. In radio wave transmission, a tilted tower does not function effectively. Similarly, a tilted posture of students in the classroom is a sign of fractured, disorganized, and negative thinking being nurtured in the mind. Such a mental state weakens students and diminishes their capacity to receive what they are meant to receive in the classroom.

Thought management on the part of students involves the following steps, which must be handled carefully:

Thought genesis, Thought orientation, Thought processing, Thought execution, Thought Genesis

Thought genesis is the initial moment when thought formation begins in the mind of a student. It is triggered by various classroom stimuli such as the teacher’s questions, prior knowledge, classroom interaction, instructional strategies, and overall engagement within an interactive learning environment related to a specific subject. At this stage, it is essential for the student to keep all senses fully focused on the teacher’s instructional actions, such as the introduction of the topic, announcing or writing the topic on the blackboard, and outlining what is to be discussed.

The student must reinforce prior knowledge of the topic with the current content. This reinforcement leads to a strong foundation of thought regarding the topic or subject, which, in succeeding stages, simplifies understanding and retention for students. Another point students must remember is to develop a strong will to generate suitable and favorable thoughts. Suitable and favorable thought genesis reflects the idea that a good beginning is half done. Teachers also have an important role in the cognitive engagement of students within the classroom. Teachers can act as a source of stimuli for the proper genesis of thought with respect to the subject and topic under discussion.

Thought Orientation

Setting thought in a proper cognitive direction is termed thought orientation. Generally, the human mind tends to move in various directions; however, continuously fixing thought on a proper and significant subject always yields positive outcomes. Otherwise, fluctuation of thought becomes nothing more than a cognitive burden.

In this context, students are advised to anchor their thoughts to the subject and topic under discussion so that their thinking may undergo evolution and expansion. Such orientation empowers students to handle academic situations in the classroom with ease and confidence. Conversely, students who experience constant fluctuation of thought gain little or nothing by the end of the class.

Thought Processing

Thought processing is the actual cognitive operation through which a proper thought, in its real existence, is developed on an oriented thought. In the classroom, students are advised to perceive information through the required senses and integrate that information into the thought processing machinery. This information is then evaluated and retained cognitively by linking it with stored experiences and knowledge. In order to retain information effectively, students must also write down the important points if instructed or directed by the teachers. Through focused retention, thought retention can be achieved definitively and properly by concentrating the mind on specific information and ignoring all other inputs.

Thought Execution

Thought execution is the concluding and delivery part of thought management, followed by processing. This part of thought management marks the strength or weakness of the thought. The complete synthesis of thought with its full structure takes place at this stage. Students can judge their own engagement, learning outcomes, and progress in the classroom by analyzing the health of thought execution. If students are able to deliver their thoughts in consonance with the subject under discussion, properly aligning with the teacher’s presentation, they are successful in managing their thoughts. This enables students to sail with their mentor in the same ship on the sea of knowledge, thereby becoming empowered to attain the heights of success. Managing thought as per the above-mentioned procedure will definitely make students focused and engaged in the classroom, thereby rendering them productive and valuable.
