SRINAGAR: A meeting of the District Telecom Committee (DTC) was held today under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, here at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office to review and discuss the development of telecom infrastructure under the Jammu & Kashmir Communication and Connectivity Infrastructure Project (JKCCIP).
The Committee deliberated on key issues related to the strengthening of telecom infrastructure and the enhancement of network connectivity across Srinagar district. Detailed discussions were held regarding the construction and commissioning of mobile towers, 4G saturation, status of Right of Way (RoW) applications for Optical Fibre Cable (OFC), progress under the amended BharatNet Project, 5G street furniture mapping and other related matters.
During the meeting, the DC stressed the need for close coordination among all concerned departments to ensure the timely completion of telecom infrastructure projects. He stressed the importance of connecting all panchayats with their respective blocks in a time-bound manner to improve governance and service delivery mechanisms. He also called for expediting the implementation of 4G saturation and BharatNet projects across the district.
Highlighting the significance of robust telecom networks, the DC stated that improved connectivity is vital for effective governance, delivery of essential services, education and economic activities. He reiterated that strengthening network coverage and improving signal quality are crucial for public welfare and the overall development of the district.
During the meeting, the DC also took detailed feedback from telecom companies operating in Srinagar district and urged them to enhance the quality of telecom services, particularly in remote areas. He stressed the importance of close coordination between excavation agencies and asset owners to avoid any damage to existing infrastructure at project sites.
