Srinagar: The Srinagar–Jammu National Highway remained open for vehicular movement on Tuesday despite intermittent rain and snowfall reported in parts of Kashmir and the Chenab Valley, officials said.
Traffic authorities informed that light motor vehicles (LMVs) were allowed to ply from both sides of the highway, while heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) were permitted to move in a regulated manner from Udhampur towards Srinagar.
Officials said weather conditions along the highway corridor remained largely stable, with cloudy skies but no fresh rainfall or snowfall reported. Road conditions were described as satisfactory, enabling smooth movement of traffic.
Authorities added that traffic was being closely monitored to ensure uninterrupted flow and advised commuters to adhere to official traffic advisories while undertaking travel.
The Srinagar–Jammu highway, the only all-weather surface link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country, remains prone to weather-related disruptions during the winter months.
