Srinagar: Weather across Jammu and Kashmir is expected to remain largely overcast over the coming days, with intermittent spells of light rain, snowfall and gusty winds likely at several places, officials from the Meteorological Department said on Tuesday.
Director Meteorological Centre Srinagar, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, said overcast conditions have set in from Tuesday morning, accompanied by the possibility of brief spells of light rain or snow and gusty winds in parts of the region.
According to the forecast, February 11 will witness partly cloudy skies, with isolated higher reaches likely to receive light snowfall, while weather conditions are expected to remain dry on February 12.
Cloud cover is likely to increase again on February 13, with a chance of light snow at isolated higher altitudes. From February 14 to 16, the region is expected to experience generally dry weather, though some higher reaches may receive light snowfall late on February 16.
On February 17, generally cloudy conditions are predicted, with light rain or snow at scattered locations. The weather is expected to remain dry from February 18 to 21, with no significant precipitation forecast across the Union Territory.
In view of the forecast, travellers and transport operators have been advised to check the status of roads and highways with traffic authorities before undertaking journeys. Residents of snow-bound areas have also been cautioned against venturing into steep and avalanche-prone slopes.
