New Delhi: Jammu & Kashmir BJP President and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Sat Sharma CA, forcefully raised crucial public-interest issues concerning urban mobility and rural livelihood generation in Jammu & Kashmir during the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha, and obtained detailed responses from the concerned Union Ministries.

Raising an unstarred question in the House, Sat Sharma sought comprehensive information regarding the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) for Jammu city, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable, integrated and future-ready urban transport infrastructure.

Responding on behalf of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the Union Minister Tokhan Sahu informed the House that the CMP for Jammu has been prepared as a long-term integrated urban transport framework, aimed at promoting public transport, reducing traffic congestion and emissions, improving road safety, ensuring multimodal integration, and encouraging Transit-Oriented Development.

The plan envisages phased implementation, ranging from traffic management and bus system strengthening in the short term to the introduction of mass rapid transit systems in the long term. It was further informed that 100 buses have been sanctioned for Jammu under the PM eBus Sewa Scheme to strengthen urban mobility.

In another significant intervention, Sat Sharma raised the issue of Khadi and Village Industries development in Jammu & Kashmir, seeking details on clusters, funding, and employment generation.

The Minister of MSME, Shobha Karandlaje, informed the House that six Khadi and Village Industries clusters are currently under implementation in J&K under the SFURTI scheme, spread across districts including Ramban, Doda, Samba, Baramulla, Pulwama and Srinagar.

The Minister further stated that ₹501.64 lakh has been sanctioned and released under the Khadi Gramodyog Vikas Yojana during the last three years, with substantial utilisation, resulting in employment generation, particularly benefiting women and SC/ST artisans.

Sat Sharma stated that these interventions reflect the BJP’s firm commitment to balanced urban development and strengthening rural livelihoods in Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring inclusive growth and sustainable economic opportunities for all sections of society.
