Kupwara: Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Kupwara have frozen illegally acquired assets in connection with an NDPS case registered at Police Station Kupwara.
The action pertains to FIR No. 186/2025, registered under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act. During the course of investigation, police recovered a heroin-like substance along with cash amounting to ₹4,93,100, suspected to be proceeds from narcotics trafficking.
Officials said that further investigation established the accused’s involvement in the sale and distribution of narcotic substances. Consequently, a freezing order under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act was issued to prevent the transfer or disposal of the illegally acquired property.
Police stated that all seizure and freezing proceedings were carried out strictly in accordance with the law. The case has now been forwarded to the competent authority for confirmation of the freezing order.
