Police register case against company owner for alleged overcharging at Sonamarg

Ganderbal: Police in Ganderbal have registered a case against the owner of M/S Sheer-i-Kashmir Construction Pvt. Ltd. for allegedly overcharging tourist vehicles in the name of sanitation fees at the SDA Toll Post, Shudkadi, in Sonamarg.

According to officials, FIR No. 02/2026 has been registered at Police Station Sonamarg under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case pertains to the alleged illegal collection of extra charges from tourist vehicles. Further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the full extent of the alleged overcharging.

Police reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the rights of tourists and the general public, stating that any individual or agency found indulging in illegal or unauthorized collection of extra charges will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. Such unlawful practices, police said, will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Meanwhile, tourists and members of the public have been advised to remain vigilant and immediately report any instances of overcharging, harassment, or illegal fee collection to Ganderbal Police on the following helpline numbers: 9541786717, 7006795008, 9906668731, 9419371774, 9541786731, 0194-2416478, and 0194-2416564.
