₹71.18 lakh released for upgradation of sports infrastructure in Chanapora Constituency: Satish Sharma

Jammu: An amount of ₹71.183 lakh has been released for the development and maintenance of playfields and sports infrastructure in Chanapora constituency during the financial year 2025–26, Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

The Minister was replying to a question raised by Mushtaq Guroo. He said that a volleyball court with fencing and drainage has been taken up at Nowgam at an allotted cost of ₹20 lakh, out of which ₹11.459 lakh has already been utilised.

He further informed the House that an amount of ₹13.64 lakh was sanctioned for chain-link fencing of the existing synthetic volleyball court and the ZPEO office, along with the main gate at Nowgam Playfield. Of this, ₹12.36 lakh has been utilised so far.

“The remaining allocation of funds is earmarked for the construction of the ZPEO office at Nowgam, Srinagar,” the Minister said.

Replying to a supplementary question, Satish Sharma added that Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for other projects aimed at upgrading sports infrastructure in the constituency have been prepared and will be taken up with the concerned authorities in due course.
