Awantipora: Police on Wednesday said they arrested a drug peddler during naka checking at Chersoo in Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
According to police, a party from Police Post Toll Plaza intercepted a suspicious person during the checking. Upon search, four sticks of charas-like substance weighing 48 grams, 40 grams of charas powder-like substance, and 315 grams of bhung chura-like substance were recovered.
Police identified the accused as Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shaksaz, son of Ghulam Nabi Shaksaz, a resident of Malpora Ghat Tokuna, Chersoo. He was arrested and shifted to the Police Station Awantipora.
Police said a case under FIR No. 28/2026 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
