SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, today chaired a meeting to review the status of ongoing and proposed development projects being executed by the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) in Srinagar.

The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairman LCMA, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, the Chief Engineers of KPDCL, PHE and R&B, Superintending Engineer UEED, General Manager NBCC Srinagar, Deputy Director Planning, and other senior officers.

At the outset, the Superintending Engineer, UEED, gave a detailed presentation on ongoing and envisioned projects across the Kashmir Division, with special focus on Srinagar city. He briefed the meeting on the number of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the division, DPRs framed, projects tendered, live projects, and projects under evaluation.

The SE UEED also apprised the meeting of the status of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) works under SBM (Urban) 2.0, the overall sewerage scenario of Srinagar city, pollution abatement measures for water bodies in the city, major ongoing UEED projects, the sewerage scheme for Zone-3 of Greater Srinagar, and the project status along with issues related to the 60 MLD Noorbagh STP.

It was given that Noor Bagh STP shall be fully commissioned by March.

Addressing the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner directed UEED to compile stage-wise timelines for all ongoing and envisioned projects to ensure effective monitoring.

He further instructed for the urgent resolution of issues pertaining to the 60 MLD Noorbagh STP, including augmentation of power supply, plugging of leakages, connection of all 20,000 households, completion of line connections at Alamgiribazar, and ensuring proper road connectivity.
