SRINAGAR: To strengthen the digital footprint of regional entrepreneurship, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) inaugurated a one-week MSME-sponsored Management Development Program (MDP) at the Shalimar campus today.

The program, titled ‘Management of E-Commerce for Promoting Local Products and Tapping Unexplored National Markets’, organised by SKUAST-K’s Institute of Business and Policy Research (IBPR), is designed to equip participants with the digital tools necessary to bridge the gap between local production and national consumer demand.

In his keynote address, Dr SH Baba, professor IBPR, provided an insightful overview of contemporary e-commerce strategies and the managerial frameworks required to stay competitive in the digital age. He emphasized that mastering digital platforms is no longer optional but a necessity for promoting local products in a crowded national market.

Earlier, Dr Omar Fayaz Khan, Assistant Professor IBPR and organiser of the MDP, highlighted how e-commerce acts as a force multiplier for market visibility.

Dr Ashiq H Lone, Co-Coordinator, further underscored the importance of collaborative networks and aligned the program’s objectives with NEP guidelines for student development.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, the week-long training aims to transform the local business landscape by empowering participants with practical managerial skills for effective business expansion.
