Srinagar: The Indian Army successfully organised a Rozgaar Mela (Job Fair) at the Chinar Nau Jawan Club, Uri, from January 15 to 20, 2026, with the objective of empowering unemployed educated youth of Uri Tehsil in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The initiative aimed to create awareness about various government and private sector employment schemes, address employment-related grievances, and facilitate access to meaningful job opportunities for local youth. The Rozgaar Mela was organised by the Dagger Division in collaboration with the REACHA Foundation, under the aegis of the Chinar Corps.
The event witnessed the participation of 12 reputed companies, offering a wide range of employment opportunities across sectors such as Information Technology, Hospitality, Finance, and Manufacturing. The primary objective was to bridge the gap between skilled local youth and potential employers, while also providing focused support to ex-servicemen and their families, particularly those residing in border areas.
In addition to job placements, participants received career guidance, counselling, and information on various skill development initiatives. Job seekers were also guided on accessing future employment opportunities through the Jammu and Kashmir Employment Portal.
The Rozgaar Mela received overwhelming appreciation from youth, ex-servicemen, and their families, who expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for its sustained efforts in addressing the socio-economic needs of the local population. Several participants urged that such Rozgaar Melas be organised regularly to ensure wider outreach and greater impact.
The initiative stands as a testament to the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to nation-building and community welfare, further strengthening the bond of trust and cooperation between the Army and the people of Jammu and Kashmir
