Srinagar: Police on Sunday claimed to have seized a vehicle at Vilgam Handwara which it said was transporting “illegally” 750 kilograms of rice.
During checking at Vilgam, a police party stopped a vehicle and upon inspection, found it carrying a large quantity of rice “without any valid authorization or supporting documents”. The driver failed to produce any permit or proof regarding the lawful transportation of the commodity, a police spokesperson said.
He said the consignment weighing about 750 kg of rice along with the vehicle was seized on the spot and a case registered under relevant sections of law for further investigation.
