Jammu: An army soldier, who was injured during the ongoing encounter with terrorists in the Singpura area pf Kishtwar, succumbed to his injuries on Monday, the Army said.
In a post on X, the Army’s White Knight Corps, per news agency–Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that Havildar Gajendra Singh of the Special Forces made the supreme sacrifice while gallantly executing a counter terrorism operation in the Singpura area.
“The GOC, White Knight Corps and all ranks pay solemn tribute to Havildar Gajendra Singh of the Special Forces, who made the supreme sacrifice while gallantly executing a Counter Terrorism operation in the Singpura area during the ongoing Operation TRASHI-I on the night of 19 Jan 2026. We honour his indomitable courage, valour and selfless devotion to duty and stand firmly with the bereaved family in this hour of profound grief,” it said in the X post.
Earlier, encounter broke out in the Singpura area after joint forces launched a cordon and search operation following inputs about the presence of three Jaishe-e-Mohammad terrorists in the area.
During the initial exchange of firing, seven army personnel were injured with three of them airlifted to an army hospital for specialised treatment—(KNO)
