Sajad Lone chairs meeting of Committee on govt assurances

JAMMU: The Committee on government assurances of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today convened a meeting at the Assembly Complex, Jammu, to review the assurances pertaining to the Power Development Department (PDD).

The meeting was chaired by Committee Chairman, MLA Sajad Gani Lone and attended by members including Choudhary Mohammad Akram, Iftikar Ahmad, Hilal Akber Lone, Mian Mehar Ali, Mohan Lal, Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj and Shagun Parihar.

The Committee reviewed the status of assurances given by the government on the Floor of the House pertaining to the Power Development Department and the working of different projects.

The Chairman stressed upon the concerned authorities to address the grievances and issues raised by the members on a priority basis.

Additional Chief Secretary, Power Development Department, Shailendra Kumar, briefed the Committee about the status of implementation and action taken by the department in respect of government assurances pertaining to PDD. He also assured the Committee that all pending assurances of PDD would be redressed on a priority basis.

The members of the Committee highlighted various issues of public importance regarding the working of the Power Development Department.

The Chairman of the Committee exhorted upon the senior authorities of the Power Department to take all necessary arrangements to provide adequate power supply to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially in winter zones in Kashmir and the Jammu region, so that they can get relief during the winter season.

The Committee was satisfied with the reply furnished by the department and unanimously decided to drop all the government assurances pertaining to the Power Development Department, which was discussed in the meeting.
