Div Com reviews progress of SMRDA Projects, Calls for Timely Completion

SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Wednesday directed executing agencies to expedite the completion of projects under the Srinagar Metropolitan Region Development Authority (SMRDA) scheme and ensure that all pending works are completed before the end of the current financial year.

Emphasising adherence to timelines, the Divisional Commissioner urged agencies to fast-track projects that are nearing completion, keeping in view the expenditure cap of the allotted funds.

During the review meeting, the Divisional Commissioner assessed the physical and financial progress of several projects, including Transport Nagar at Parimpora; community facilities at Bemina, Chattabal, and Noorbagh; development of Bairam Hills; and the Shopping Complex-cum-Marriage Hall at Nowhatta.

He also reviewed a few projects in Bandipora and Ganderbal, which, as informed by the concerned authorities, are being taken forward for completion with revised expenditure approvals.

He further directed the concerned departments to formally close projects that could not be taken up due to feasibility constraints.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo; Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation; Chief Engineer R&B, Chief Town Planner, officers of SDA and SMRDA.
