JAMMU: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma, today attended the inaugural ceremony of the Big Jammu & Kashmir Premier League (JKPL) in Jammu.
The Minister reiterated the present dispensation’s commitment towards promoting sports culture and building robust sports infrastructure across the Union Territory.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the present government is placing special emphasis on the development of sports infrastructure and the promotion of sporting activities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that platforms like JKPL are playing a vital role in identifying talent, nurturing young players and providing them with competitive exposure, thereby helping channelise youthful energy in a positive and productive direction.
Satish Sharma said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Jammu and Kashmir is steadily emerging as a hub of sports excellence, with focused investments being made in stadiums, training facilities and grassroots-level sporting initiatives.
