CEO conducts quarterly inspection of EVM, VVPAT warehouse in Samba

SAMBA: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Jammu & Kashmir, Sanjeev Verma, today conducted the mandatory quarterly inspection of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) warehouse of Samba district at the District Administrative Complex, here.

The inspection was conducted jointly by Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ayushi Sudan, along with Nodal Officer for EVM, J&K, Sandesh Kumar Gupta and Deputy District Election Officer, Sunil Angral. Representatives of recognised political parties were also present during the inspection, in accordance with prescribed electoral procedures.

During the inspection, the officers carried out a comprehensive review of the security arrangements, including verification of EVM and VVPAT storage boxes, physical condition of the machines and sealing of warehouse doors. All protocols related to access control and record maintenance were thoroughly examined.

The quarterly inspection of EVM/VVPAT warehouses is a routine and mandatory exercise being conducted under the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. The process was carried out in the presence of political party representatives during the opening and closing of the warehouse to ensure complete transparency, accountability and strict adherence to electoral norms.
