Senior political and social leaders from Kashmir join BJP in Jammu

Jammu: Senior political personalities and prominent social figures from Kashmir, earlier associated with various regional parties, today joined the BJP at the Party Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, in a significant political development reflecting the growing public confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party.

J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sat Sharma, accompanied by BJP J&K General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, welcomed the new entrants into the party fold. J&K BJP Office Secretary Tilak Raj Gupta, district Jammu South President Naresh Singh Jasrotia, and others were also present on the occasion.

Among those who joined the BJP were Mohammad Shafiq Khan, retired from J&K Police and District Vice President Kupwara of the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), Akhtar Ahmad War, an Ex-serviceman, and Abdul Hameed Bhat, a renowned social activist and senior worker of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The joinings were led by Sameer Ahmad Shah, Senior BJP leader and Former District President Budgam.

Welcoming the new members, Sat Sharma said that the decision of experienced political workers, retired officials, and respected social personalities to join the BJP clearly reflects the credibility and acceptance of the Modi government’s policies. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership is firmly rooted in the principles of Vikas, transparency, accountability, and people-centric governance. He emphasized that the Modi government has ensured that development reaches the grassroots, benefiting every section of society without discrimination, and reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to a peaceful, progressive, and prosperous Jammu & Kashmir.

Sat Sharma further said that the government’s priority is to secure a bright, dignified, and opportunity-filled future for the youth of Jammu & Kashmir. The talent of J&K’s youth is immense, and the Modi government is creating a supportive ecosystem for them to realise their aspirations, he said.

Ashok Koul, while welcoming the new entrants, highlighted that unprecedented development has taken place across the country under Prime Minister Modi, with Jammu & Kashmir receiving focused, equitable, and inclusive attention. He said that development in J&K is now planned in a holistic manner, ensuring balanced growth, improved infrastructure, better connectivity, strengthened healthcare and education systems, and effective social welfare delivery.

The newly joined members expressed full faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and pledged to work dedicatedly for the welfare, unity, and development of Jammu & Kashmir under the BJP’s banner.
