Srinagar: The Attestation Parade of newly recruited soldiers of the Kupwara Terriers (Territorial Army) was conducted with traditional military decorum and discipline at Kupwara on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the lives of the young recruits and their families.
The solemn ceremony formally inducted the soldiers into the Kupwara Terriers, as they took the oath to serve the nation with integrity, honour and unwavering dedication. The parade was witnessed by senior Army officers, civil dignitaries, families of the recruits, ex-servicemen and prominent members of the local community.
The event featured immaculate drill and high standards of discipline, reflecting the professionalism and preparedness of the Territorial Army. Addressing the troops, the Reviewing Officer, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, congratulated the newly attested soldiers and underscored the crucial role of the Territorial Army in national security as well as in nation-building.
The recruitment process for the Territorial Army battalion was initiated under the aegis of the Vajra Division in November 2024 and drew an unprecedented response from the youth of Kupwara and Bandipora districts. Following a rigorous selection process, 313 aspirants were chosen and subsequently underwent months of intensive military training at the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles Regimental Centre in Jabalpur.
The attestation parade marked the successful culmination of this demanding training phase. The occasion evoked a sense of pride and reassurance among parents and local residents, many of whom expressed satisfaction and joy at seeing their sons join the ranks of the Indian Army.
The parade stood as a testimony to the strong spirit of national service and commitment among the youth of the region, reaffirming their willingness to contribute meaningfully to the security and progress of the country.
