Leh: The Judicial Inquiry Commission constituted to probe the incident that occurred in Leh on September 24 has completed a significant phase of its proceedings, recording statements of 22 officials drawn from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the district administration and the Ladakh Police.
Joint Secretary to the Commission, Rigzin Spalgon, said that the Commission, headed by Justice Dr. B. S. Chauhan, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, held sittings from December 17 to December 23, 2025. During this period, oral statements of officials who were on duty at the time of the incident were recorded.
He added that the Commission had earlier received and examined written statements and affidavits submitted by the concerned officials as part of the preliminary inquiry, and the ongoing proceedings are a continuation of that process.
The Joint Secretary further informed that in the next round of sittings, members of the public will be invited to depose before the Commission. Dates for recording statements of individuals who have already submitted affidavits will be notified separately in due course.
